The Peotone Public Library District will hold a public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for Peotone Public Library District, Illinois for 2025; the hearing will be held on November 18, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peotone Public Library, 515 N. First Street, Peotone, Illinois, 60468.

The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2024 were $679,108.17
The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2025 are $727,272.                
This represents a 7% increase over the previous year. 

The Peotone Public Library District’s regular board meeting will follow immediately after the public hearing on the proposed tax levy increase finishes.

The Peotone Public Library District’s board of trustees regular meetings occur every third Tuesday of the month unless otherwise noted.  All meeting dates are posted at the library as well.  These meetings are open to the public and any member of the community is welcome to attend and speak during public comment, per the Open Meetings Act.
