On-Line Databases Provided by the Peotone Public Library
New digital library service offers fantastic eBooks, videos, audio books, educational materials and more to local library patrons.
Peotone Public Library District is proud to announce that it will offer free access to BiblioBoard Library to all library patrons. Whether patrons are interested in comics and graphic novels, popular fiction, children’s books, young adult novels, history, science or art, BiblioBoard Library’s diverse digital content holds something for everyone.
WITH PRESSBOOKS PUBLIC, your library can help local authors not only gain a readership base in the community, but create sleek, professional print and digital books with ease. After writing, formatting and designing their books in Pressbooks, authors can obtain their files to distribute through any channels they see fit, as they are provided ePUB, Mobi and PDF formats that meet requirements of all eBook and print-on-demand vendors. Authors can even share their digital books with your local library patrons via the Library Journal SELF-e program.
SELF-e is an innovative collaboration between Library Journal and BiblioBoard® that enables authors and libraries to work together to expose notable self-published ebooks to eager readers looking to discover something new. Using SELF-e, Peotone Public Library District will be able to take submissions from its local indie authors and make those ebooks available to any participating library across Illinois on BiblioBoard’s award-winning PatronsFirst™ platform. Libraries can make these ebooks available with no checkouts or returns and no multi-user limitations.
Britannica Library gives you three different levels in one Encyclopedia; Children, Young Adults and Adult Reference Center. This encyclopedia has the most current information including videos photos and it directs you to the Webs best sites.

eSequels can help you find the newest title by your favorite author or spot a title that you may have missed. It can also list the most popular series so you can discover a new author or rediscover an enjoyable series. eSequels indexes character, location and subject as well as author and title so you can identify a series. And last, but most important for some readers, eSequels lists the novels in the correct reading sequence.
Gale Virtual Reference Library is a collection of encyclopaedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These eBooks are available 24/7 with no checkout. Titles can be browsed, searched and downloaded anytime from any Internet-connected device. The eBooks you can access are hand selected by the Peotone Public Library District and are digitally reproduced from trusted, authoritative reference works from Gale and our publishing partners.

Additionally, this database includes indexing for more than 1,000 periodicals dating back to 1983. Education Full Text also features in-depth coverage of special education, with more than 50 journals dedicated to this important topic.

Affordable Care Act
In March 2010, a health reform law was passed called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). The law was created to make preventive care more accessible and affordable for Americans. This law (known as Obamacare) will take effect October 1st, 2013 and requires everyone to have health insurance or face financial penalties. Open enrollment starts October 1, 2013 for coverage starting as early as January 1, 2014. Open enrollment ends March 31, 2014.
