What can you do with a Library Card?

Abstract Ocean Waves

Save Money.

You gain access to thousands of pieces of human knowledge and creativity.  Peotone Public Library District has over 50,000 items in our building alone.  We are also connected to a library system of over 130 libraries nearby and can also get materials from all of those libraries.  Our staff can reach out across the state and country to help you get materials!  We have books, e-books, DVDs, e-media, a seed library, crafts, guest speakers, hotspots and much more.  All paid for with about $120 a year of district resident's property taxes.  See your tax dollars at work with all your library has to offer!

Moreover, public libraries are public spaces and offer a space free of the obligation to purchase in order to partake.  Come use our study room, meeting room, comfortable reading chairs--all without paying for a meal or coffee just to be there.

Connect.

The Library hosts many events for all ages throughout the year.  The more you attend Library events, the more you will meet with and connect with your community!  Book clubs, speakers, workshops, or just someone to say hi to, we have it.

With free public wi-fi and public access computers, you can literally connect to the world wide web through us.

Your Library Card.

Who can get a card?

A Library card can help you advance your career and education with access to unique research databases and learning modules.   Come to our Library events and learn something new, whether it's to crochet in our stitch club or how to use the Cricut or how to sing the ABC's with shakers.

Library staff can help you one on one to work through a difficult technology issue or help with research.  We will help you copy, print, or fax as needed, too.  The Library has access points to grow the infinite potential of your awesomeness if you embrace free-range and life-longing learning.

The Library seeks to balance the dynamic nature of events and connection while also giving a space for the santicity of silence.  We want you to have fun at storytime and also be able to find a quiet corner to read or work.

Reading has been proven over and over again to be exercise for the mind--no matter what you read.  Reading fiction enhances empathy, brightens your vocabulary, provides you arm chair  travel and feeds the imagination.  Reading helps us disconnect from the non-stop buzz of our technology and travel the human mind on its own again.

Discover & Grow

Abstract Ocean Waves

Anyone who lives within our Library District boundaries can get a Library card.  You can check what Library your taxes go to here, courtesy of the State Library or give us a call (708-258-3436) to verify what Library you should go to.

We serve all of Peotone, most of Monee, Green Garden, Wilton Center, and some of Monee & Will Townships, but if you are unsure if your taxes come to our Library,  we will gladly help you.

If you do not live in our district boundaries, you must obtain a Library card from your home Library, which you can usually use it at our Library.

If you do not have a home Library, please contact the Library to see if you qualify for a non-resident card.

How can I get a card?

Here are a few ways to apply for a Peotone Public Library District card:
