Services
The Library strives to be a third space for all and serve the community as much as we can. We offer a variety of services to that end, including proctoring of exams, public notary, and one on one appointments.
Genealogy One on One
Have a librarian help you research your family history. Use our Genealogy Room resources or request an appointment with the adult services staff at information@peotonelibrary.org.
Public Notary
Need a notary? Select staff are public notaries for your convenience. Please call to make an appointment and review the notary policy. Call the Library at least 30 minutes before you'd like to have a notary to confirm availability at 708-258-3436.

We have a whole section of our Library dedicated just to homeschooling. Check out our guides to homeschooling and all the other great resources too.
We also have a monthly Homeschool Hangout. Check our calendar for the next one!
While you're at it, don't forget to check out our online resources. Visit our Learning & Research page to access some of our databases. Be sure to check out Novelist for great reader's advisory; it can help you find your next great read.
Homeschool Resources
You know you have yarn at home just sitting in piles, never to be used? Give that yarn a good home and add it to our always-out yarn cart. Put what you can't (or won't) use in our cart and feel free to take some of the other yarn home in its place!
After that, check our calendar of events for our biweekly Stitch Club! Usually we meet the first Thursday of each month (Library Maker Space) and the third Wednesday of each month (Monee Historical Society).
You can even sign up for a one-on-one tutorial on learning to crochet or knit in our Maker Space.
Yarn Swap
We have a monthly puzzle swap where we put out a cart of free puzzles for patrons to come and exchange puzzles they have already done for a different flavor puzzle. Bring a 500+ piece puzzle without any missing pieces to trade for one that’s new-to-you! Spread the word so there will be more puzzles to choose from. Check our calendar for when we put it out, but usually the Puzzle Swap cart is out the last Monday of each month.
But if a swap is too much commitment, you can also come in and work on our community puzzle. We put out a new puzzle each time one is completed!
Puzzle Table
The Peotone Public Library District has a Seed Library & Exchange! Seeds are available near the front entrance. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a beginner, our seed packets come with care instructions. By scanning the QR code of each packet, you will be able to see details about the seed packet, growing instructions, and even learn some recipes you can use after harvesting.
